Apparel Design ‘22, Honors Thesis Student
This exhibition showcases Lauren’s senior honors thesis collection “Embrace” that she has been working on for over a year now. This collection tells a story about her journey throughout college learning to love and embrace herself and who God created her to be. The collection is inspired by significant events in her life, both the good and the bad, friends and family, and the beauty of nature that have molded her into the woman and designer that she is today.
Through the hardship, pain, and loneliness Lauren has experienced at times throughout college, nature, the very inescapable presence of God has been a source of strength, comfort and inspiration.
The 6 looks in this collection tell a story of who Lauren is as she has learned to embrace every part of herself from the inside out.
Look 1: Beauty of Pain
Look 2: Beauty of Imperfection
Look 3: Beauty of Ephemerality
Look 4: Beauty of Friendship
Look 5: Beauty of Gentleness
Look 6: Beauty of Vulnerability
Through Lauren’s vulnerability by sharing her story through this collection, she hopes to inspire, comfort and plant seeds of love and embrace through this collection.
This exhibition includes behind the scenes from initial sketches to surface design textile samples (resist marbling, heat gun, heat set, natural dye exploration), patterns, muslins (prototypes), final work and images. On the wall you can find excerpts from each of Lauren’s models!
